This cookie recipe comes from Snacky Cat. It's a great entry level cookie recipe, one that works every time, doesn't require a lot of complicated ingredients, and is dead easy to make. You don't have to add the chocolate chips, but they're so much better with them. You can also substitute raisins for the chocolate, or nuts and a hit of orange zest. Or just plain cookies.
Snacky Cat's Basic Cookie Recipe
350 degree F - 13 min.
Yield: approx. 16 2 3/4" cookies
1.2 cup butter
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1 1/4 cup flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla
Add chocolate chips (optional)
Preheat the oven. Cream the butter and two sugars together. Add the egg and mix in. Sift the flour, salt and baking soda, and add to the cookie dough, incorporating well. Add the vanilla and mix, and add in as many chocolate chips as you like, so they're dotted generously throughout.
Roll into balls and flatten out into the desired sizes. Place evenly on a parchment lined baking sheet.
